The winner’s reward

Winning the raffle isn’t charity. The miner who adds the next block collects a reward: a chunk of brand-new bitcoin, plus the small fees attached to the payments in that block.

This is exactly how new bitcoin enters the world — not printed by anyone, but earned, block by block, by whoever does the work.

A self-reinforcing loop

Here’s the elegant part:

  • The more valuable bitcoin becomes…
  • …the more miners compete for the reward…
  • …the more energy protects the network…
  • …the harder it is to attack.

Security you can actually measure, paid for by the reward itself.

Quick check: Where do brand-new bitcoin come from?

  1. A central bank prints them
  2. They’re the reward paid to the miner who adds each new block ✓
  3. Users create them by clicking a button

New coins are the block reward — the incentive that pays for the network’s security. Nobody can decide to mint extra outside this rule.
